Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) Fifteenth Meeting

The 15th Meeting of CARD-F’s Inter-Ministerial Committee held on Sunday, February 11, 2018. The meeting chaired by H.E. Nasir Ahmad Durrani Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, with the presence of H.E. Mujiburrahman Karimi the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Mr. Abdul Khaliq Mahjoob Alternative Livelihood Projects Director, Mr. Naveed Ahmad Niaz National Budget Planning and Reform Director and Mss. Natalie Faye Hicks Head of Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA). The meeting was also attended by a number of advisers and staff from MAIL, MoF, MRRD and CARD-F management.

H.E. Nasir Ahmad Durrani, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, taking into account the achievements of the program expressed his gratitude and satisfaction from CARD-F. He stated that staff in CARD-F are the cream of the young Afghan generation and considered their services necessary and important for the sectorial ministries. He promised that he will put all his efforts and assist to extend the programme and keep the young and qualified staff beyond completion of the second phase of CARD-F and accordingly provided the necessary guidance and instructions.

At the meeting, Mr. Ahmad Shakib Sakhizadeh, Executive Director of CARD-F presented the programme progress and achievements, the plan for 2018, challenges, risks and major lessons. He emphasized that CARD-F programme is in line with the government and donors development priorities. He indicated that, so far CARD-F programme has created 6,495 small, medium and large enterprises and attracted nearly AFN three billion (2,875,104,880 )private sector investments in to agriculture sector, which is remarkable considering the current state of the country. Mr. Sakhizadeh added that the program has created and safeguarded 84,166 full time employment opportunities and increased the income of farmers and investors to AFN 1.61 billion.

Furthermore, the IMC members and donors representatives discussed the future of the programme and the possibilities of future funding in details. The meeting was ended by the chairman of the meeting after summing up the discussed issues.
