Background:
Helmand Mini EDP is cotton and dairy value chain project aiming to support development of the two value chains in Helmand province. The first component of this project includes distribution of input packages to 500 farmers to support cotton production, establishment 1 Cotton ginning and oil extraction, 1 cotton seed oil fractionation and refinery plant, 1 facility for production of surgical cotton, provision of training and extension services, and establishment of 1 cotton producers’ association. The second component of this project includes distribution of hygiene packages to and provision of training and extension services to 200 household milk producers in the target districts of Helmand. Implementation of this project started in October 2015 and is expected to end in September 2017. The project is being implemented by CARD-F IU.
Objective:
The objective of this project is to increase rural income, create rural employment opportunities and stimulate private sector investment in cotton and dairy sectors.
